My DIY Furniture Projects

'Woodworking puts me into a peaceful state of mind - creating something out of 'nothing' can be really fulfilling.'

DRAWER CABINET

This project is a good demonstration for template routing.

The organizer holds space for several office accessories, your smartphone and a cup.

It also covers a keyboard and mouse, so if you don’t use your PC or you just have to look something up in your files, it saves a lot of space. Click here for detailed project page (build video, documentation, build snaps)

Pallet coffee Table (Glowing)

Building furnitures out of (old) pallets has become very popular for DIY projects. Especially a coffee table is the perfect DIY beginners project.

I was stoned when I saw an illuminated pallet coffee table so I had to create my own version with several enhancements. I think the finished pallet coffee table looks pretty impressive especially in a twilighted environment.

Smartphone and Tablet stand

This kind of smartphone stand is widely spread over the internet. I found it pretty interesting to do another DIY project out of it.

The stand provides the following features:

- enough space for currently large Phones like the iPhone Plus series

- charging the phone while it is parked ...

Kitchen CABINET

I had the need to extend my storage room for my kitchen, so I had to build this kitchen cabinet.

I had the following requirements:

- full sized drawers
- loadable drawers
- one drawer capable of holding my complete tableware
- adjustable pvc stands
- reliable corpus

Key cabinet

Building a key cabinet can be a nice exercise for larger furniture projects. I have had the need for a location where I could store all my thousands of keys for a very long time - one location for all keys at a spot which is not visible for everyone visiting me at my house.

Wall protection cladding

For my dining room I have had the problem that the wall behind the chairs tended to get dirty over time. The reasons for this were mainly two reasons: The small room for the chairs so they touched the wall pretty often when people were sitting down or getting up from the chair and second my kids often touched the wall when they were trying to get to and on the chairs.

So I thought I should build my own version with an invisible mounting solution and a nice look for the dining room. Click here for detailed project page (documentation, build snaps)

bookshelf

My kids needed a storage for their books beside their beds because they both are reading rats and they always had to put their books on the floor when they finished reading in their beds before going to sleep. Thus I build a simple but effective book shelf with rounded corners...

bathroom corner shelf

This project is a good demonstration for template routing.

In the bathroom you never ever have enough space for all those little things. For this reason I have built a corner shelf besides my mirror cabinet. For me it is quite convenient have a good view for all the things you need every day.

This corner shelf is a straight forward DIY project, if you use biscuit joins this shelf is pretty easy to make.

Loft bunk

The rooms of my kids were not really large at our old home, so building a loft bunk was a great thing to have more space in the room. In my first version I had only one level at the top of the bunk to use the space below for a couch or a desk. After a while I have upgraded the bunk with a second level to have two sleeping levels.

I have chosen the dimensions so that in the lower and upper deck one can sit on a mattress without bumping your head. You could also use the lower deck as sofa.
